KARACHI: A 12-year-old girl, Rashida Parveen, went missing from her house in Naval Colony, Baldia Town, two weeks ago.

Her brother told Roshni Helpline, an NGO, that Rashida lived with her brothers and sister-in-law, within the jurisdiction of Saeedabad police station, and went missing when no one was home.

He said she came from the Punjab three months ago and did not know her way around the city.

“We have constantly tried to get the Saeedabad police to register an FIR but they have not done so,” he complained.  “It seems like they have not even started looking for the culprits,” he added.

The family searched Edhi homes and other shelters but have yet to find her.

Roshni Helpline’s  president Muhammad Ali said that there has been a rise in the number of missing females. The culprits of the case in which a seven-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Gulshan-e-Iqbal have yet to be identified and prosecuted, he added.
