Crossed LoC by mistake: Girl handed back to Indian authorities

ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan Army on Monday handed over a 12-year-old Indian Kashmiri girl, who had inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC), to the Indian authorities.

The military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement that the Indian girl had mistakenly crossed the LoC on December 26, in Hajipir sector. “Nasreen, daughter of Afzal, a resident of Sahura village of Indian held Kashmir, was handed over to Indian authorities at Chakoti-Uri crossing point by Pakistani military officials,” the ISPR statement read.

Meanwhile, talking to the media, Nasreen Afzal said she enjoyed her three-day stay in Pakistan. “I am so happy and impressed by the hospitality of the people of AJK who cared for me like their own daughter. They gave me new clothes and everyone from army to civilians was so kind during my three-day stay,” Nasreen said.

After the routine paperwork Nasreen was examined by a medical doctor of Indian administered Kashmir at the Chakoti-Uri crossing point and was allowed to go with her mother.  Before leaving Azad Kashmir, Pakistan Army presented two gift boxes and a schoolbag to Nasreen who was keenly looking back towards Azad Kashmir side while entering into the Indian administered Kashmir.
