Encounter follow-up: Five more bodies handed over to families

Of the 13 deceased suspects, only three have yet to be identified.

KARACHI: The bodies of yet another five suspected militants killed during an encounter with the police in Sohrab Goth were handed over to their families on Friday.

The bodies of the remaining unidentified three are still at Edhi morgue. At least 13 suspects were killed when the District Malir police conducted a raid on the militants’ hideout on a tip-off on Monday evening. Four of the deceased were identified by their families on Tuesday at the morgue as Abrar, Amir, Ameerullah and Naveedullah. Another was identified on Wednesday as Abdullah.

The five bodies handed over to heirs on Friday were identified as those of Muhammad Saeed Noor Mehsud, a resident of Noor Khan Goth, Sohrab Goth, Noor Yasin Mehsud, a resident of Faqira Goth, Imran Burmi, a resident of Korangi, Imran Bengali, a resident of Korangi, and Mir Sada Khan Waziri, a resident of MPR Colony.

SHO Ismail Lashari said that the bodies of the remaining three were still at Edhi morgue as the police are trying to trace their heirs.

Meanwhile, the four suspected militants who were killed on Wednesday night during an encounter with the Rangers in Gulshan-e-Maymar have yet to be identified. Their bodies are kept at Edhi morgue.
