Streamlining operations: Monitoring project to be introduced at police stations in January

Police stations will be equipped with video link in second phase.

LAHORE: CCPO Amin Wains said on Friday that the pilot project to monitor SHOs and administration officials at police stations using CCTV cameras would be introduced on January 10.

The CCPO said the pilot would also monitor evening proceedings at police stations. He was speaking to administration officials from various police stations in the city at police lines. CCPO Wains said the pilot would be controlled from the offices of the operations DIG and the CCPO. He said the initiative had been taken to streamline operations at police stations across Lahore. Wains said a video link would be introduced at police stations in the second phase of the programme to enable senior police officials to effectively communicate with station officials at their convenience.



CCPO Wains said no tolerance would be shown to those guilty of grabbing land or facilitating land mafias and action would be taken against them according to law. He said strict action would be taken against criminals among policemen guilty of assisting land mafias. CCPO Wains said administrative officials have a crucial role in this regard. He said it was imperative to strengthen intelligence gathering, promote community policing and earn the goodwill of citizens. CCPO Wains said the officials should help citizens in overcoming the challenges confronting them and deal politely with them. He said they should feel free to contact him directly if they encountered any problem in effectively discharging their duties.

Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Vice-Chairman Iftikhar Ahmed said police must include citizens in its efforts to control crime. He said this could exponentially improve results of their efforts to curb crime. Ahmed said the authority would plant flowers and trees at police stations across Lahore on a priority basis.

Mobilink Regional Manager Abdul Hadi said the company would provide administration officials at police stations with free SIM and install a tracking system on the phones of police officials for free. He said this would help establish the location of policemen.
