Ease Of Access: Anti-corruption courts to be shifted

Our Correspondent December 25, 2014

LAHORE: Two anti-corruption courts are going to be shifted from Bahawalpur House to the Sessions Courts Complex Phase II (old sessions court) in January, 2015.  The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) has been demanding shifting of the courts. Lawyers had demanded that anti-corruption, labour, consumer, drug, anti-terrorism courts should be located at one place. LBA general secretary Chaudhry Saleem Ladhi said that bar members had met Acting LHC Chief Justice Manzoor Malik to discuss the issue. “It will be easier for lawyers to plead their cases if all the courts were located at one place,” he said. He said the consumer court was also being shifted from Riwaz Garden to the sessions court complex. “In the second phase, LBA will try to get the labour, drug and anti-terrorism courts shifted to the sessions courts,” he said. He thanked the acting LHC chief justice in shifting the courts. Chaudhry Ghulam Mujtaba, a lawyer, said that courts should be located at one locality. “Presently, some courts are located in residential areas. Litigants and lawyers face difficulties in reaching such courts on time,” he said.
