Countering militancy: CM notifies law and order committee

Committee will assist government in meeting security challenges, countering militancy and extremism

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has issued a notification for the formation of a technical committee on law and order to assess the security situation in the province.


According to an official of the Home and Tribal Affairs department, the committee will also act as a think tank to assist the government in meeting security challenges and countering militancy and extremism.

The official told The Express Tribune the committee will comprise senior minister Inayatullah Khan, Minister for Health Shahram Khan, Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Atif Khan, Minister for Information Mushtaq Ghani as well as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa additional home secretary.

He added the provincial police chief and secretaries of health, education, local government, planning and development departments will act as co-opted members.

“The committee’s role is to prepare a robust strategy for peace building and countering the threat of terrorism,” said the home department official.
