LAHORE: “Asian countries should have mutual cooperation in energy, development and trade, human rights, environment, education and health sectors because all these are the problems of the region”, said President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday.

He was speaking at the 7th Asian Parliamentary Assembly at Punjab Governor House where many important issues were discussed.

President Hussain prioritised peace and prosperity, goals for which Pakistan has had to pay a heavy price for being a front line state in the war against terror.

He emphasised that mutual effort should be mounted by South Asian countries to eradicate common problems. With a young civil society, active democracy and vocal media and judiciary this should be a possibility to bring change in lives.

The president also mentioned that an Asian Parliament should be a platform where legislators and people’s representatives could share their experiences and he hoped that this session of APA would help them achieve their goals.

Senate Chairman Nayyer Bokhari, APA Organizing Committee Chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain gave their speeches at the concluding session and thanked the participants of the APA.
