Unregistered IDP families to get Rs6000 cash assistance: WFP

WFP already provided food assistance to over 10,000 families affected by the on going Operation Khyber One

PESHAWAR: World Food Program (WFP) officials on Tuesday said that the over 6,000 unregistered displaced families will be provided cash assistance of Rs6,000 each in December.

WFP Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) representative Naimatullah Khan told reporters that Rs6,000 will be provided to each of the over 6,000 unregistered families along with 80,000 registered families of IDPs.

Khan said most of the families who had left their homes and could not register because no male members were heading them.

He added that most of the families who had settled in Bannu and southern districts of K-P had been identified by the WFP for receiving assistance from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

WFP said it has already provided food to over 10,000 families affected by the on going Operation Khyber One in Khyber Agency whereas some five distribution hubs have been established in Peshawar and Nowshera districts.
