Violence in the city: Two men shot dead in separate incidents

Police officials said that according to initial investigations, the deceased had been kidnapped, tortured to death

Two men were killed in separate incidents while the body of another man was found from the outskirts of the city on Friday.


A young man was shot dead near the Matric Board Office within the limits of Paposh Nagar police station. He was later identified as Afzal Khan, the 26-year-old son of Bakhtawar Khan. According to police officials, the deceased was a resident of Mehmoodabad and was a driver by profession. They said that he was gunned down by unidentified armed men, adding that the motive behind the murder had not yet been determined.


In another incident, a man, later identified as Riaz, was shot dead at his residence in Orangi Town. Although initial reports suggested that the deceased was a policeman, SHO Ghulam Hussain claimed that he was a tailor.


Meanwhile, the body of a middle-aged man was found in Jumma Goth within the limits of Ibrahim Hyderi police station. The police recovered the body after being informed about it by residents of the area.


The body was shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.  Police officials said that according to their initial investigations, the deceased had been kidnapped and tortured to death by unidentified persons.
