KARACHI:
Adviser to the chief minister on finance, Murad Ali Shah, tendered his resignation on Friday to contest the November 29 by-elections from PS-73 constituency in Sehwan.
Murad had been disqualified by the court prior to the general elections due to dual nationality.
The ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) allotted the provincial assembly seat to his cousin Abdul Nabi Shah, who contested and won from the constituency.
Murad was appointed as the financial adviser to the CM after the general election, with the status of a minister.
Murad has now been cleared by the court after proving that he had surrendered his Canadian citizenship.
PPP MPA Abdul Nabi resigned from the constituency following the court decision, paving the way for Murad to contest the poll.
According to party sources, Murad, who is considered a strong contender, is to retain the finance department portfolio after the poll. However, speculation is rife suggesting that the charge of the home department would also be given to him. Reports terming him a solid candidate to replace CM Syed Qaim Ali Shah have also been pouring in.

He is the architect of fiscal mismanagement in Sindh. As a Finanace Minister and Advisor his job is to smoothen corrption and rent seeking by ensring timely flow of funds to dubious schemes. Just take any financial scandal during last five years and he has made sure there is no check and balance applied by Finance Department. Money was released to projects which even did not exist in budget books.That is the only reason he is so close to Zardar and his mafia.
