Land dispute: Two tribesmen killed over old enmity

Two men were killed in a shootout between members of the Kalhoro and Narejo tribes in a village near Gambat Taluka, Khairpur, on Wednesday.


Police said a group of armed Narejo tribesmen raided Sadiq Kalhoro village and started shooting at some members of the Kalhoro tribe. They retaliated and a shootout ensued in which two members of the Narejo tribe, Abdul Latif Narejo and Amanullah Narejo, were killed. Their accomplices fled.  Police arrived at the scene and took the bodies to the taluka hospital in Gambat for autopsy. No one had filed a complaint in this regard till the filing of the report. Media persons in Gambat said the tribes had a dispute over land five years ago, 16 people have died because of it since.

Not only are the people of this region being possibly poisoned by arsenic in the ground water wells, they are also eliminating themselves over land disputes
