Collision on Indus Highway leaves 8 dead

25 others injured in accident

MULTAN: Eight people were killed and 25 others injured on Friday when a local bus skidded into a car and then rammed into an intra-city bus on the Indus Highway near Rasulpur area in Rajanpur district. The driver of one of the buses was trying to avoid hitting a speeding car.

Three passengers in the car, all of them sisters, died on the spot while three passengers on the bus suffered fatal wounds. Another person succumbed to his injuries on the way to DHQ Rajanpur. Among those injured, seven are in a critical condition.

The local bus travelling from Dera Ghazi Khan to Rajanpur rammed into a bus coming from Karachi. Eyewitnesses told The Express Tribune that the bus was trying to save a car coming from the front, but moments after hitting it, rammed into another bus.

Initially, the passengers were shifted to THQ Jampur and were later shifted to DHQ Rajanpur. Rescue 1122 and district administration officials shifted the victims to the hospital. The bodies were handed over to their families after autopsy.
