Ashura incident: Arrest warrant issued for absconder

Judge asks police to submit charge-sheets against the suspects

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for a man suspected of involvement in the 2013 Ashura clashes. Judge Chaudhry Abdul Qayyum ordered the police to produce Zahir Shah at next hearing on October 23.


The court also granted interim bails to four new nominated suspects in the case, identified as Salaar Hassan, Shoukat Abbas, Syed Farzand and Asad Abbas. The court has summoned the Gawalmandi SHO with the record of the case on October 16. The case has been adjourned till October 23.

Meanwhile, the ATC court also adjourned four cases. An army officer’s kidnapping for ransom from the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station was adjourned till October 16. The judge asked the police to submit charge-sheets against the suspects, identified as Shama Amjad, Amjad Mehmood and Saqib at the next hearing.

Moreover, hearing into bail applications of 15 suspected terrorists from Basal, Attock, was adjourned till October 11, while another terror suspect Saifullah Khan from the Sadiqabad Police Station was sent on a five-day physical remand.
