SAMBRIAL: Police officials have recovered a kidnapped child after three days and have arrested the three kidnappers responsible for abducting the child.

Gujranwala regional police officer (RPO), Tariq Masud Yaseen, told reporters on Saturday, that Nasir Mehmood’s three-year-old son had been abducted for ransom while a maid was taking him for a walk outside their house in Saleempura.

The abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs10million from Mehmood and threatened that if they did not receive the money within the stipulated time, the child would be killed. The RPO added that the accused had been keeping the child at a hideout near the Glotiyaan village in Daska.

“When we found him, his hands were tied and he was being held underneath a trapdoor in the floor,” Yaseen said.

Mehmood said that he initially paid a Rs500,000 ransom to the accused but they did not release the child. “That was when we decided to call the police,” he said, adding that the kidnappers had threatened the child’s life if he called the police.

On a tip off, a huge contingent of police officials raided the kidnapper’s hideout and recovered the child on Saturday morning.

Police officials arrested three men identified as Mudassar, Muzaffar and Ilyas from the hideout and also recovered a large contingent of illegal weapons from them.

The case will be tried in the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Gujranwala within the coming week.
