KARACHI: Jadeed Khan Pathan’s brace handed Afghan FC their second win in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) as they defeated Balochistan FC 5-1 at the KMC Football Stadium yesterday.

Jadeed, who is also the team captain, has been a key player for his side. He had wanted to play the current season with KRL, but the Afghan FC management stopped his transfer.

Playing their second match, Afghan FC took the lead with Majeed Khan’s goal in the 16th minute, while Jadeed doubled the score four minutes later as they led 2-0 at the interval.

The Chaman-based club dominated the second half as well. Zabihullah scored in the 53rd minute but Balochistan FC replied with Goram’s goal seven minutes later.

However, Jadeed extended the lead with his second goal in the 66th minute and Zabihullah went onto seal the win in the 79th minute of the match.

“Even though I wanted to go to KRL, Afghan FC is still my club,” Jadeed told The Express Tribune. “They need me so I’ll play my heart out for them this season. As for KRL, everything was sorted but my management was not ready to let me go. So I’ll now wait till next season to play with KRL.”

Jadeed added that his aim is to be among the top scorers in the league.

“Scoring more goals is one of the aims besides fulfilling my duty as captain for Afghan FC. I also want the new players in our side to improve this year.”

In today’s fixtures, PIA will face K-E, KPT will play against NBP and Railways will take on PAF.
