Deadly Encounter: Robber killed in shootout with police

The CPO also announced cash prizes and appreciation letters for the police team.

FAISALABAD: A robbery suspect was killed on Saturday in a shootout with police in Chak 543-GB. City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Sohail Habib Tajik told reporters that a police team, headed by Sub Inspector Muhammad Asim, was travelling to Garh. “When the team reached Chak 543-GB Mangnawala Phatak, three unidentified gunmen opened fire at the police van,” he said. “The policemen retaliated, killing one of them. The others escaped,” he said. He said police had seized a Kalashnikov rifle, two magazines and a motorcycle. The body was taken to a hospital for post mortem examination. “A police team, headed by Tandlianwala DSP Ejaz Hussain, has been formed to look for the escaped robbers,” he said. The CPO also announced cash prizes and appreciation letters for the police team.
