PCB announce squad for T20, ODI series against Australia

Chief selector Moin Khan says Younus Khan not part of 2015 World Cup plan; Umar Gul needs to work on his fitness

KARACHI: Younus Khan was not named on Wednesday in the ODI squad for the upcoming home series against Australia in the UAE.

“Younus Khan is not a part of our 2015 World Cup plan,” said chief selector and team manager Moin Khan after announcing the squads in both the T20, ODI formats. “But the doors are still not closed for him.”

Reacting to the statements made by Moin Khan, Younus said that he would fight for his spot in the ODI squad.

Moreover, Moin Khan also said that Umar Gul needs to work on his fitness as he is the main bowler for Pakistan in the upcoming World Cup.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed made a comeback to the ODI squad. Another new face for the T20 squad is Saad Nasim, who put up a great display for Lahore Lions against Northern Knights in the Champions League T20’s qualifiers scoring a half-century.

Awais Zia, the blistering opener, also made his way back into the T20 team. The Test squad for the series will be announced after the conclusion of the second ODI in the UAE.
