Encounters: Six alleged criminals shot dead

DSP Ahmed said that the three suspects were looting cash and other valuables from passersby.

Two kidnappers and four alleged street criminals were killed in three separate encounters with the police and Rangers in different parts of the city on Wednesday.


The two kidnappers were killed in an encounter with the law enforcers in Lyari. The operation was conducted to rescue a victim from their captivity. The Rangers spokesperson said that the encounter took place in Chakiwara, Lyari, when the Rangers troops were on routine patrol in the area. He said that the two kidnappers were killed while a victim, identified as Zohaib, was rescued.

The deceased were later identified as Noman and Naveed. They were affiliated with the Uzair Baloch gang. SSP Sheeraz Nazeer said that the victim had been kidnapped from a local restaurant and the kidnappers demanded Rs5 million as ransom.

Separately, two suspects were killed in an encounter with the police near the cattle market on Super Highway, within the limits of Sacchal police station. DSP Qamar Ahmed said that the suspects were looting cattle sellers, adding that the police reached the site and shot and killed both of them. Their bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later shifted to the Edhi morgue for identification.

In a separate incident, two suspects allegedly involved in street crimes were killed during an encounter near New Vegetable market on Super Highway, within the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. DSP Ahmed said that the three suspects were looting cash and other valuables from passersby.
