RAWALPINDI:

Pothichaprian, a small village in Ajeera tehsil of Poonch district in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), has been inundated in the recent rains.

There were almost 200 houses in the village before the onset of the relentless rains but now there is no mark of any building. Rainwater flowed from the mountains in such high speeds that it did not even spare a single house in the valley. Residents had evacuated before the floods came but failed to save their property and livestock.

Kashaan Masood, a resident of the village, told The Express Tribune he shifted family members to safer places but some are still people stranded and need help.

He said no team from the government had reached his village, adding that workers of Red Crescent are active in the area.

Sardar Waheed, another resident, said he had shifted his family to his relatives’ house far away but came back to help other villagers.

He said they have lost everything and have nowhere to go. “Our entire village vanished before our eyes,” he said.
