SARGODHA:

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Manan on Friday directed Revenue Department officials to relocate residents of low-lying areas to safe areas after River Chenab and River Jhelum breached their banks.

He directed them to ensure that relief camps for the victims worked round the clock.

Manan was presiding over a meeting to review flood control arrangements in the district.

District Police Officer Raja Basharat Mehmood, Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Manzoor and Education Executive District Officer Malik Zafar Abbas Rehan were also present. The DCO said it was imperative for district authorities to keep an eye on water level in the rivers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents and their livestock. He said emergency contingency measures needed to be taken to ensure that flood relief camps had an ample stock of medicines and feed for livestock.
