Ied blast: Police van targeted in Bannu

The police official said they launched a search operation in adjoining areas after the attack and arrested a suspect

BANNU: A police van was targeted in an improvised explosive device blast in the jurisdiction of Mandan police station on Monday. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported in the incident. A police official said Miryan SHO Akhtar Ali was en route to Bannu city with other policemen when a roadside bomb went off near their vehicle as they reached Bairun Miryan Gate. He said the policemen escaped unscathed, adding the explosion was heard far and wide, creating panic among the people of the area. The police official said they launched a search operation in adjoining areas after the attack and arrested a suspect identified as Ahmad Khan, a resident of North Waziristan.
