KARACHI:

Four alleged members of two separate Lyari gangs were found dead in the city on Saturday, while another was found from the city’s outskirts.

Gangs clash

Two men were found dead, while another was found critically injured, from Haji Shafi Muhammad Goth, within the limits of the Memon Goth police station. All three were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where the deceased were identified as 20-year-old Pervez, son of Ghulam Rasool, and 24-year-old Kalu, son of Khair Muhammad. The injured was identified as 27-year-old Ameen, son of Miskeem.

Police officials, while quoting Ameen, said that the three men were abducted from Malir City on Friday by members of the Dr Shoaib group, which is part of the Baba Ladla gang. “They were brought here and then shot at multiple times after being blindfolded,” said SHO Azam Hayat.

Police officials said that the deceased and the injured belonged to Lyari’s Sohail Dada gang, who operates in Malir City and its surrounding areas. Members of the rival Dr Shoaib gang were nominated in the FIR by the relatives of the deceased.

Police officials claim that this incident is the latest in a long line of violent clashes between the two gangs. “Apparently, these men were abducted and killed in reaction to the three members of the Dr Shoaib gang who were killed on Friday in the same area,” said DSP Pervez Shah.

Similarly, another alleged gangster was targeted and killed in Yousuf Goth, within the limits of the Saeedabad police station. The deceased was later identified as 25-year-old Tahir Baloch, son of Ghulam Nabi Baloch. SHO Tahir Ayub claimed Tahir was a driver by profession and was targeted by unidentified persons. He was associated with the Baba Ladla gang and Uzair Baloch’s rival gang is thought to be behind the incident, added police officials.

Separately, another alleged Baba Ladla gang member was targeted and killed on the Chakiwara Road, within the limits of the Napier police station. The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Yasin Baloch and the police claim he was killed by two alleged members of the Uzair Baloch gang known as Hanif and Shahroz.
