KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said on Friday that the army's credibility had been defamed on the floor of the National Assembly, and that the military should restore it within the ambit of the Constitution.
According to a press statement issued by the MQM on Friday evening, Altaf said that in order to save the country, if the armed forces has to take ‘unpleasant’ steps, then it should.
However, the MQM chief clarified that he was strongly against marital law. He said the government, by blaming on the opposing parties for involving the army as mediator, has tried to tarnish the image of the armed forces, and that if he was in place of Nawaz Sharif, he would have immediately resigned as the prime minister.
Separately, in an interview to a television news channel, Altaf called for the formation of a technocrat government as he asked the army to intervene in the ongoing political crisis in order to save the country.
Speaking to a news channel following the ISPR release which said that the government had asked the army chief to play a facilitative role, Altaf said that the army should set up a technocrat government and then leave.
If needed, the armed forces should take ‘unpleasant’ steps to save the country, he said, urging the army to take action without delay.
Earlier, Altaf had welcomed the role of the army chief to solve the political crisis, and said that he had won the hearts of thousands of people by playing an effective role for the solution of the crisis.

Altaf advises NS to resign because of mere allegations against him while being indicted and under investigation and on bail, he himself holds on to absolute power as head of MQM. Wouldn't he be well advised to clear his name against his prosecution for money laundering?

Mr. Altaf, how do you reconcile the above contradiction? Your prescription cannot be implemented without violating the Constitution and without the imposition of Martial Law.
Altaf Hussains suggestion makes sense, you can not leave situation in hands of a goverment who orders murder of innocent PAT workers then doesnt want to take the blame, plus time is running out for Imran Khan , he hasnt been to England in last couple of months its becoming a seperation anxiety for him.

The worse that mqm can do is to take sides in the current conflict. Any support to the 'dharnis' may especially come to haunt mqm.

Altaf Hussain should keep his advice to himself because his advice never be in the interest of the country. Why on the earth we give weightage to statements of a man in exile who generally speaks against the interests of Pakistan. This latest suggestion is completely insane, out of sync with democratic transition that we are going through and must be ignored completely, rather ridiculed....
Spade would be a spade regardless what fancy name you call it and if it is made of iron, gold or platinum. Actually it is quite a useful tool and may be handy when PAT and PTI members need to dig graves (for Pakistan) under the glorified undertakers such as IK, maulvi qadri and now recent addition of our own "bhai" sahib!.

Altaf hussain has no legitimacy
I'm not a fan of Altaf Hussain, but he usually has practical and sane advice on political crises.
Cat is out of the bag. As expected, and as usual, Altaf Bhai's statement suggest that MQM has decided to stand with Anti-Democratic Forces and his loyalty is with power and wooing powerful institutions, not with democratic ideals. They keep on changing their positions. This is sad that despite 3 decades long politics of MQM, they still seem an unevolved party, always siding with whosoever is in powerful position.

Very appropriate suggestion.The two parties have extreme reconcilable positions.It is in best interesy of country that we have Electoral reforms quickly and transparent elections held under complete supervision of Army which every body will accept and there will be no bitterness.
