KARACHI: Archrivals India beat Pakistan 3-0 in the boys’ final of the South Asian Cadet and Junior Table Tennis Championship being played in Islamabad.
In the first match, Utkarsh Gupta defeated Mohammad Rameez 3-1, despite initially trailing by a frame as he won with scores of 8-11, 16-14, 11-6 and 11-6.
The most competitive match of the final was played between Lalrin Puia and Salman Virk, which was won by the former after a long five-setter.
Lalrin won the rollercoaster match with scores of 10-12, 11-5, 10-12, 11-4 and 11-2.
In the last match, Sabhya beat Abdul Haseeb in straight sets with a scoreline of 11-3, 11-8 and 11-8.
Earlier in the semi-finals, Pakistan had defeated Sri Lanka 3-1 while India had thrashed Nepal 3-0.
