KARACHI:

In a full-day operation against illegal water connections on Monday, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) destroyed multiple pipelines and a tunnel that were illegally providing water to the industries in SITE.

"It is unbelievable that they managed to construct a tunnel and punctured a main pipeline for their illegal water connection," said the operation incharge, Asif Qadri.

He added that the tunnel started from Nazimabad, near Saifullah Khan, and went all the way to the SITE Industrial Area. An approximate 35 million gallons of water per day (MGD) were being stolen through the pipelines in the tunnel, added Qadri. "There were three illegal pipelines of varying diameters inside the tunnel, and all of them were being used to supply water to industries," claimed Qadri. "We will register FIRs against the industries that were using this water once we finish this drive."
