Ameen Vais appointed as new CCPO Lahore

Vais replaces former CCPO Shafiq Gujjar who was removed following the Model Town clashes

LAHORE: Inspector General (IG) Ameen Vais has been appointed as the new Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore, Express News reported on Monday. 

Vais was previously the head of the counter-terrorism department as well as SSP investigation in Lahore.

The appointment of Vais as the new CCPO follows the removal of former CCPO Lahore Ch Shafiq Gujjar after the Model Town clashes on the recommendation of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) operations Rana Abdul Jabbar and SP Model Town division Tariq Aziz were also removed from their posts following the deadly clashes on June 17.

All three were made Officer on Special Duty (OSD).
