Gas Theft: SSGC disconnects 3,500 houses

According to the Customer Relations Department, 197,540 cubic feet of gas was estimated to be stolen in one year

KARACHI: Sui Southern Gas Company’s (SSGC) Customer Relations Department conducted a raid to curb the direct use of gas in Abdullah Goth, National Highway, Bin Qasim Town. The company’s task force undertook a coordinated action against gas thieves. When the team members were engaged in disconnecting illegal gas connections, some miscreants attacked them and caused panic, threatening the disconnection process. During the operation, the task force cut off gas connections of 3,500 houses, which were using rubber pipes buried underground and connected with service valves. According to the Customer Relations Department, 197,540 cubic feet of gas was estimated to be stolen in one year, costing about Rs50 million.
