‘Encounter’: Bike snatcher killed, boy drowns

The police in retaliation answered and killed one of the culprits while two escaped.

RAWALPINDI: An alleged motorcycle snatcher was killed in an encounter with police in the jurisdiction of Morga police station late Saturday night. Rawalpindi police spokesperson said that three persons were involved in motorcycle snatching. A police team spotted them and surrounded them in Morga. In an attempt to escape they opened fire on the police team. The police in retaliation answered and killed one of the culprits while two escaped. The identity of the dead could not be ascertained. Special teams have been set up to arrest the escaped robbers. City Police Officer Humayun Bashir Tarar announced Rs50,000 cash prize and certificates for the police. Meanwhile, a boy drowned in Korang River on Saturday. According to Shehzad Town police, the 10-year-old boy, Haroon, resident of Nai Abadi, Bilal Town, of Shehzad Town drowned in Korang River.
