QUETTA:

Balochistan Minister for Minorities and Human Rights Mujeebur Rehman Mohammed Hassani’s official vehicle was snatched at gunpoint in Quetta on Sunday.

According to police sources, Hassani’s black Vigo, bearing the registration number QAY 1071, was ambushed by a group of armed men on Quetta’s Zarghoon Road.

The gunmen took Hassani’s driver hostage at gunpoint, pulled him out of the car and drove away in the vehicle. Hassani, a leader of the National Party, was not in the vehicle at the time, a police official said.

Police have registered the case and are investigating the incident.

Zarghoon Road, which is located near Saryab Pattak, is an area in the city where incidents of car-snatching occur frequently.

Hassani is minister for minorities, human rights, sports, culture, archives and welfare and youth affairs.

Incidents of car snatching and street crimes have spiked in the provincial capital during the last few months.
