LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday directed Mustafa Town police to register a case against a sub inspector and some unidentified police officials for illegally detaining a man.

Petitioner Muhammad Nawaz had filed a habeas corpus petition seeking the recovery of his son, Faizan, who he says, had been detained by some police officials including Sub-Inspector Muhammad Akbar.

He said a few days ago, police arrested Faizan saying that he was wanted in a robbery case. He requested the judge to appoint a bailiff to trace his son.

The bailiff said Faizan had been arrested for robbery but had not been nominated in an FIR. He said his name was also not mentioned in the roznamcha and that the police had detained him in a room. The judge directed the Mustafa Town SHO to register a case.
