FAISALABAD:

Police on Friday registered a case against two men accused of raping a woman and blackmailing her with a video they had made of the crime.

The victim’s brother, Adnan Afzal, had filed a complaint in this regard with Razaabad police. Afzal told police that his sister had been married for eight years. “She was childless and was worried because of it,” he said. He said Subhan Ali, a man in the area, approached his sister and told her that his father could give her a taveez (amulet) that could help her conceive a child.

“She immediately agreed. When she went to Ali’s house on June 30, he gave her a beverage laced with intoxicants and she fainted after drinking it,” Afzal said.

“Ali and one of his accomplices then abducted my sister and took her to a deserted place where they raped her,” the victim’s brother said.

He said they also filmed the incident and took pictures. They began blackmailing her soon after and demanded Rs300,000 for the pictures and video. He said her sister paid the amount, but they refused to return the material.

“They started threatening her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the rape,” Afzal said. Razaabad police have registered a case against the accused. The Razaabad SHO said that a police team had been formed to arrest the accused, who were still at large. “The victim has also been advised to get herself examined by a doctor. Further action will be taken upon receipt of a medico-legal report,” the SHO said.
