Pakistan Institution of Engineers has awarded Punjab University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology Professor Zia Chaudhary the National Excellence Award for 2014.


Chaudhary received the award from Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal at a ceremony organised in connection with Engineering Day.

Chaudhry is the only person in chemical engineering discipline from all over the country to be given this award.

The Punjab University Vice Chancellor Mujahid Kamran congratulated Chaudhry on receiving the award.

27 PhD synopses approved

A meeting of Punjab University Advanced Studies and Research Board (AS&RB) was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Mujahid Kamran on Monday which approved 27 PhD synopses, 25 evaluation reports, 12 panels of examiners, seven extension cases and six miscellaneous cases. Dr Muhammad Ehsan Malik, Dr Mubbasher Ahmed Butt, Dr Zakaria Zakar, Dr Massarrat Abid, Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Dr Mumtaz Akhter, Dr Shahid Kamal, Dr Ismatullah Zahid, Dr Tahira Basharat, Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar, Dr Amir Ijaz, Dr Abdul Ghaffar and Controller of Examinations Dr Liaqat Ali attended the meeting.
