Officials from the Kohsar police station said that a local security guard at the super market had intercepted a suspicious person just before the blast. The suspected bomber was killed and the security guard was critically injured. He was shifted to the Polyclinic hospital.
The police did not remove the body of the suspected bomber for nearly 30 minutes.
At the time of the blast no stores were open in the market place and the area was quite deserted.
Shortly afterwards, a heavy contingent of police, security forces, and rescue services descended on the blast site and sealed off the area.
A bomb disposal squad had also reached the site with sniffer dogs to determine the nature of the blast.

Meanwhile, IG Aftab Cheema has said that super market blast was not suicidal. It was made through a timed device.
G-9 Markaz blast
There were also reports of a second blast in a car near Karachi Company in G-9 Markaz. However, no injuries were reported.
The blast in a car at G-9 markaz was done by explosives, sources claimed.
Owner of the car has been identified as Fawad. The car was left outside a showroom two days back.

Tribune, PLEASE show some maturity and complete this article, identify the security guard, and follow up. He confronted a terrorist armed with nothing more than his determination and guts. Time to give unsung heroes their fifteen minutes of fame.
Ms Mehwish, what gave you an idea that "innocent" were killed in the airstirkes? If you know the modus operandi of precision strikes and the area that was taken upon, you would not have said "innocent people including women and children". It is just like saying that if police raided a gambling den or a house of sin, innocent people, women of virtue and children were affected.
The only way forward is to completely eradicate this menace. Complete cleansing through jets, gunships and ground forces. While on that, no harm on gagging up the apologists and supporters too, whoever they are!
Who are we negotiating with ? With people who go about killing other people. What was the 'role' of that poor injured guard in any kind of negotiations? On the other hand, the Aerial strikes are also killing majority of innocent people, women and children. There is no value for life at side of the table. I wonder how this bloodshed would come to an end !

Before getting into finger-pointing and needless politics, let's take a moment to salute the bravery of the security guard. We are all fighting this menace of terrorism. Let's stand united. Negotiations can only be done from a position of strength. Let's show the militants what their place is, and force them to consider a political solution.
