I really feel that there is no need to have a photo of someone holding a knife to the camera to accompany this story. The headline is indicative enough of what the story is about and we really don't need a visual to help us understand anything further. Also, the visual itself is disrespectful to the dead and is traumatized for both people who knew the deceased and for ordinary people who may have been exposed to violence or are sensitive to such things. Moreover, I think it is an exercise in bad journalism to add horror-imagery in the reporting process. You are telling the news, you are not reprinting a horror novel. Please do better next time.
