An ASF official said that a US national identified as Joel Cox was travelling from Karachi to Islamabad by PK-308.
During routine search by ASF staff, 15 bullets of the 9mm pistol along with a magazine were found in his bag, he said. The suspect was handed over to the Airport police station.
SHO Khalid Mehmood confirmed the arrest of the US national and registration of an FIR against him.
US Consulate officials said they were following the situation. “We are aware of the situation that has been reported and we are coordinating with Pakistani authorities to resolve any concerns,” said the spokesman of the consulate.

It's not illegal to carry ammo on plane in USA so long as it's safely packed and not with weapon ... I would be surprised if Pakistan laws are any different. Guy is being singled out because he's an American - anyone surprised?
May be he has been send to kill any Pakistani person......
I won't blame most American and Western diplomats for carrying their own personal security, considering our govt's security arrangements for them and the unreliability of local armed bodyguards. But idiots like Raymond Davis have given Pakistanis have every reason to suspect their motives.
Its ok to take a magazine and bullets seperate from the gun body ...the gun was probably in the main baggage ..
How did you hold him? I remembered Davis case .......
@Ali khan: They'll release him on one phone call from the US embassy. Americans in Pakistan can commit murder in broad daylight on a busy thoroughfare and still get released.
ASF is Great Force of Pakistan..
