FAISALABAD:

A worker died and two others were injured on Tuesday in a boiler explosion at a factory on Samundari Road, police said.

They said Muhammad Mustafa, 30, Shakil Ahmad, 28, and Muhammad Ashfaq, 25, were at work during the night shift at Noor Dyeing Factory when a boiler exploded.

They said Mustafa died on the spot. Ahmad and Ashfaq were taken to the Allied Hospital in a critical condition.

Abdur Rashid, the doctor on duty, said the two had suffered burns to more than 80 per cent of their bodies.

A factory worker blamed the factory’s administration for lack of proper maintenance.

“The boiler had developed a fault a few days ago. The factory manager, however, asked the workers to continue their work,” he said on condition on anonymity.

The manager was not available for comment.
