QUETTA:

A complete shutter-down strike was observed in Quetta and parts of Balochistan in response to a call given by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The strike was called to protest against the government’s failure to book the culprits involved in the murder of son, brother and nephew of PML-N Balochistan chief Sardar Sanaullah Zehri.

“I was punished for hoisting the flag of Pakistan. I will continue my struggle against the anti-state elements,” said Zehri.

The business and trade activities had come to a standstill in Quetta as most shops, restaurants and markets on Jinnah Road, Liaquat Bazaar, Abdul Sattar Road, Saryab Road, Joint Road, Zarghoon Road and Shahra-e-Iqbal remained closed, while traffic was also very thin.

Other than Quetta, strike was observed in Naushki, Khuzdar, Surab, Dalbandin, Subatpur and some other cities. The activists of PML-N staged protest and raised slogans in support of their demands.

A PML-N spokesperson stated that the government has failed to book the accused nominated in the murder of PML-N chief’s relatives and other activists during the election campaign in Khuzdar.

Despite having a huge share in Balochistan’s coalition government, PML-N resorted to protest and observed province-wide shutter-down strike.
