State Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Balighur Rehman on Tuesday distributed cheques among six persons who were badly injured in the Sabzi Mandi blast.
The minister distributed cheques among six badly injured persons admitted in various wards of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital. Talking to mediapersons, the minister said compensation of Rs500,000 would be paid to the heirs of persons killed in the blast, while Rs75,000 would be paid to the injured.
Responding to a question, the minister said the police were looking for new leads in the blast.
The minister said steps were being taken to keep Islamabad safe under a plan which would be completed in a year, adding the government had to overcome years of shortcomings in security matters.
The provinces would then replicate the model for providing security to the people, he added. PIMS spokesperson Aisha Ehsani said compensation had been provided so far to 19 persons injured in the blast.
