GUJRANWALA: Saddar police in Gujranwala on Wednesday arrested two of the three men accused of raping a pregnant woman, recording the incident and robbing her of more than Rs300,000 worth of jewellery and cash.

Shazia, a Wapda Town resident, had filed a rape case with the Saddar police against Sajid, her next door neighbour, and two other unidentified men.

The Saddar police conducted a medical test and registered an FIR under Sections 389 (rape at gunpoint), 392 (robbery) and 349 (making a nude movie against will).Raja Riffat Mukhtar, the district police officer, told The Express Tribune that Sajid and Amir were under arrest. He said that a team led by Islam Rana, the station house officer at Saddar police station, was conducting raids for the arrest of Danish. Shazia stated in her FIR that she was dropped off at her house by her husband late night on October 22. She said that her husband had to leave to attend her father-in-law who was ill.

The FIR said that when she entered her flat two unidentified men were already present. It said that one of them seized her one-year-old child and the other raped her on gunpoint.

The two also made a movie of the incident. They later robbed her of more than Rs300,000 worth of jewellery and cash and fled.

The DPO said that Sajid admitted during the police investigation that he asked Amir and Danish to rape Shazia. “He said that Shazia had an argument with his wife, Imtal, some eight days ago and he wanted to punish her for being rude to his wife,” Mukhtar said.

Shazia was living with her one-year-old baby in a flat in Wapda Town area for eight months. There was a common entrance to Shazia’s flat and Sajid and his wife’s flat, according to the police.

The police said that Shazia was the second wife of Suleman, who was living with his first wife and parents at a house in Shaheenabad area.
