A man suspected of robbery was shot dead in Thikriwala, City Police Officer (CPO) Haidar Ashraf said on Thursday.


Ashraf told the media that three men broke into Chaudhry Medical Store, Jhang Road near Chak 74JB on Wednesday night.


“Pretending to be customers they asked for a medicine… When Shehroz Iqbal Jatt, the store’s owner, turned to get it they took out guns and demanded him to hand over money,” he said.


The CPO said the men took away Rs60,000 from Jatt. “In the meantime, Shehroz overpowered one of the robbers.”


The CPO said two robbers fled the scene after they fired at Shehroz but the bullet hit their third accomplice.


He was taken to a hospital by Rescue 1122 officials where he succumbed to his injuries.


Ashraf said the deceased had been identified as Abdul Jabbar, a resident of Nawan Lahore.


He said a police team had been constituted to arrest him.
