‘Honesty distinguishes NHMP from other services’

SHEIKHUPURA: “A sound mind is found in a sound body. Sports play a pivotal role in aligning the human mind in the right direction.

They help the forces to be active”, National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) Inspector General Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said on Sunday. He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the third NH&MP Annual Sports Festival at Sheikhupura.

Cheema said the NHMP was known in Pakistan and all over the world as a courteous, honest and helpful force. He said people from all segments of society appreciated its honesty. Cheema added that the mottos ‘Honesty is our faith’, ‘Courtesy is our hallmark’ and ‘Helping people is our pride’ were imprinted in the minds of the officers of NHMP.

He said these qualities distinguished NHMP from other police departments.

Teams from North, South, Central, Motorway, West Zones, Training College and Headquarters participated in the sports festival. During the seven-day games, cricket, football, tug of war, basketball, volley ball, table tennis, and badminton competitions were held. N-5 Central Zone won the title of Best Zone by winning seven gold medals. N-5 North Zone were the runners up with four gold titles.

A 50-metre and 100-metre race between zonal, and sector commanders and the inspector general respectively was the special event of the closing ceremony. Cheema congratulated the winning teams and expressed appreciation for the efforts of Central Zone DIG Mirza Shakil Ahmad and Commandant Training College SP Athar Waheed for organising the festival. He said the NHMP would continue to hold the annual event. DIG Wajid Zia, DIG Mirza Shakil Ahmad, DIG Zubair Hashmi, DIG Muhammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan, DIG Helena Iqbal Saeed, and the sector commanders were present on the occasion.
