A man set his ex-wife on fire after she refused to remarry him in Mir Ahmad Khel, Kohat on Friday. He then proceeded to set himself on fire as well.
Syed Marjana filed a case with Saddar police and said that she was at her neighbour’s house when she got a phone call from her daughter-in-law asking her to come home. When she reached, she found her daughter Ayesha’s ex-husband pouring petrol on her and lighting a match. She added that he also poured petrol on himself.
According to police official Afsar Khan, Marjana’s former son-in-law Samiullah barged into their house with his brother Sohail and insisted that Ayesha should marry him again. When she refused he doused her in petrol. Samiullah and Ayesha were both severely burnt.
The official added both of them were taken to Kohat Divisional Hospital where doctors referred them to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. Samiullah’s brother Sohail managed to flee. The police have filed a case against the accused.
