KARACHI:

The election tribunal reserved order on Thursday in the case relating to bogus voting in the NA-258 constituency during the general elections held on May 11 last year.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s losing candidate Raja Abdur Razzaq had challenged the results of NA-258, alleging that his rival, Abdul Hakim Baloch, had rigged the elections.

He had asked the election tribunal to order verification of thumb impressions of 8,743 voters.

In September last year, a report prepared by the National Database and Registration Authority, based on verification of the polled votes, had revealed massive riggings.

It had claimed that the fingerprints of more than 23,000 votes cast in different polling stations in the constituency could not be verified due to poor quality ink.

On Thursday, the tribunal reserved the verdict after hearing arguments of both parties.
