Sub-inspector Abdul Haq, head constable Imtiaz, Aminul Haq and their driver Kashif were among the deceased. The injured civilian was identified as Nazaul Haq.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, BDU Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Shafqat Malik said that their team was going to inspect the site of a blast in a motorcycle workshop which occurred last night when a road side bomb exploded, killing three personnel on the spot.
The injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital.
Police found the remote used in the attack around 15 meters away from the site of the explosion during a search operation.
“It is a great loss but our morale is high and BDU will continue its duty in the on-going war on terror,” Malik said, adding that they only had 34 qualified and trained employees in the province who were overburdened, but were trying to increase the number of personnel and ensure their presence in all 25 districts in the province.
The last rites of the deceased personnel were offered in Malik Saad Police Lines with a guard of honor attended by the governor and other police officials. The bodies were sent to their ancestral towns for burial.
Previous blasts
On November 16, two people including a police officer were injured in a roadside blast on Kohat Road in Peshawar. The blast had taken place near a police mobile which was on its routine patrol. According to BDS, four to five kilogrammes of explosives were used in the blast.
On November 13, an Army convoy had escaped unhurt in a remote controlled road side bomb blast on Ring Road in Peshawar. The convoy was on its way from Hayatabad to Kohat Road. The explosion, however, had occurred when the convoy had passed and there was no damage or loss of life in the attack. The BDS had inspected the site of the explosion and said that it was a home-made low intensity device of around one kilogram.
On October 10, a blast in Achini area in Peshawar had left one person injured. A security forces vehicle was reportedly the target of the explosion. Unidentified persons had started blind firing after the blast.
On October 7, a remote-controlled bomb explosion in Peshawar had killed two police officers and injured eight others. The explosion took place near a hospital in the Budh Bher area of the city. The target of the blast was a police van which was providing security to a polio team.

@ Jibran Probably you don't know Sir that the Bomb Disposal Squad comes under the administrative control of a provincial government and not the federal government. The National Security Policy deals with macro & policy-level issues while the security of BDS and other LEAs is a micro issue for which the respective provincial governments are responsible.

PMLN is trying to hold local bodies elections since 2008. What happened? It was Punjab where Sri Lankan team was attacked shutting down all international sports in the country. We are still waiting for dollar to be on 50 as it was in 1999. Ending of loadshedding once and for all in 6 months. Trial against Asif Zardari after his tenure ends as president.And lots more. Point is, miscalculations are a part of politics. Atleast PTI government is seen trying. Can't say about the rest.

These are the people who really should be honoured.
The BDS staff are our real heroes, working without any fame or accolades. But they get an allowance of merely Rs50/- to endanger their lives. The KPK Government needs to focus on the real issues rather than hogwashes. The PTI's Lifetime Chairman Imran Khan had promised that in case he comes to power he will: 1) eliminate terrorism within 90 days. But 200 days have lapsed and he is still hiding his incompetency behind drone attacks. None of the 400 victims of terrorism since May2013 was ever involved in drone attacks. 2) hold local bodies elections within 90 days. While the elections have been conducted in Balochistan and dates have been finalized in Punjab & Sindh, the KPK Government is still toying with the local bodies law and the elections are nowhere to be seen even after 250days of his government. The honeymoon period of PTI's government is over. Now the voters want action and no more dilly-dallies!!
I read in some news tht BDS members get only RS. 50 Danger Allowance which is the same amount that they used to get in 1985 since the establishment of the unit. If its true then its tragic. RIP brave members if you had diffused the bomb our media won't had bothered to make it a news.
it targeted a Bomb Disposal Squad and previous blasts have targeted security forces which means kpk security forces are active and playing their role in protecting citizens and giving their life for the citizens which is a sign of bravery that a soldier have for his country.

It is unfortunate that PTI is turning a blind eye to KPK province, doing nothing to improve security situation and protect its people from such attacks, all PTI is doing is just dharna politics and point scoring which is the easiest thing to do.
