A shutter-down strike was observed in several districts of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas divisions on the call of Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM).


The party is protesting against the promulgation of the Protection of Pakistan Ordinance, demanding the withdrawal of the law, which allows law-enforcement agencies to detain suspects for a long period. JSQM vice-chairperson Niaz Kalani claimed that dozens of party workers and a district leader were picked up from across the province during the overnight raids.
