Tableegi Ijtima: Citizens advised to stay off National Highway on Sunday

LAHORE: Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema on Saturday directed the Central Zone to increase patrolling to ensure the safety of commuters and participants at the Tableegi Ijtima at Raiwind.

A comprehensive security plan for the last day of the second session (Sunday) was chalked out in a meeting supervised by N-5 Central DIG Mirza Shakil Ahmad.

Citizens not attending the Ijtima have been requested to avoid travelling on the National Highway from 12 noon to 3pm on Sunday. A large volume of traffic is expected between 8am and 4pm on the concluding day of the Ijtima’s second session.

Direction signs have be placed at appropriate junctions. A control room has been established at the NH&MP Guidance Centre to coordinate with the control room at the Ijtima. Officers have been deployed at the main control room at Raiwind to provide updates regarding the traffic volume on Sunday, DIG Ahmad said.
