Three civilians were killed and seven others were injured in crossfire between gunmen and security forces near Amin check post in North Waziristan on Sunday.

A political administration official said some of the houses were also damaged during the shootout. He said Political Agent Siraj Ahmad Khan later assured the elders of a tribal jirga they will provide full assistance to the bereaved families.

The jirga apprised the political agent of the damage inflicted to the civilians in the area. The civilians in turn asked tribesmen to take all steps necessary to protect their areas and maintain the writ of the state under the Frontier Crimes Regulations.

On the same day, a security official was killed and three others were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated near a vehicle on Bannu-Miranshah Road.
