Investigation officers nominated for five stations to be run by police, Rangers

The role of the Rangers will be to monitor the investigations conducted by the police IOs.

Five investigation officers of the police have been nominated at each of the designated police stations that are being jointly run by the Rangers and the police to investigate the cases of suspects arrested on charges of terrorism, targeted killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion, The Express Tribune learnt on Tuesday.


The officers have been nominated at all five districts of Karachi - Aram Bagh police station in district South, Ferozabad police station in district East, Nazimabad police station in district Central, Orangi Town police station in district West and Steel Town police station in district Malir.

According to a spokesperson for Rangers, a coordination meeting of the investigation officials of the designated police stations, Rangers sector commanders, wing commanders, special public prosecutors and Rangers law officers was held at the Rangers headquarters. The participants proposed a new ordinance, discussed the effectiveness of existing laws and the progress of ongoing cases in the courts.

“The role of the Rangers will be to monitor the investigations conducted by the police IOs,” added the spokesperson.
