Security plan: 61,491 police officials to be on duty on Eid

IGP has directed field officers to monitor all entrances and exits to their districts.

A meeting presided over by Inspector General of Police Khan Baig on Monday finalised the security plan for Eidul Azha.


Under the plan, all leaves have been cancelled for the Eid holidays. Police training schools and colleges will also remain open.

As many as 61,491 police officials are to be deployed at sensitive areas including markets, mosques, seminaries, government buildings and cattle markets.

Security SSP Abdul Ghaffar Qaisrani said 279 gazetted officers, 779 inspectors, 2,559 sub inspectors, 4,285 ASIs, 3,298 head constables, 36,567 constables, 13,724 volunteers and 8,053 officials of the Special Police Force would be on duty for Eid.

It was decided that 153 walkthrough gates, 8,512 metal detectors and 226 CCTV cameras will be used at sensitive locations.

Security officials will also perform duties at 15,550 mosques, 1,197 imam bargahs and 1,325 open-air congregations.

The provincial police chief directed the Counter Terrorism Department to monitor 758 most sensitive and 1,622 sensitive places of the province with bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs.

The IGP also directed field officers to set up pickets at entrances to their districts and exits and enhance patrolling and checking of vehicles.
