PARACHINAR:

A pedestrian was wounded when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted along the roadside went off in Mali Khel area of Kuram Agency on Tuesday, confirmed a political administration official.

He said Riaz Hussain was on his way to work when the blast occurred.

He was severely injured and rushed to the Agency Headquarters Hospital where doctors had to amputate his leg to save his life.

“His wounds were severe,” the official added. Local elders asked the
government to immediately start work on
clearing explosives and mines from roadsides, which have claimed a number of lives.

They also said the agency’s hospital is not properly equipped and lacks specialised doctors and medical facilities to provide immediate aid.
